  •   So it is Carter v O'Sullivan in the final - it starts at 3pm British time on Sunday - join us then.
  • 17-15   AND HE HAS DONE IT !! - CARTER HAS WON THE MATCH - what a great session of snooker and Ali Carter has edged it. A little nervy in the final frame but lots of high quality throughout the match.
  • 16-15   CARTER TO THE PINK FOR THE MATCH...
  • 16-15   CARTER gets the red but he has work to do on the colours.
  • 16-15   PERRY MISSES ANOTHER GREAT CHANCE - after Carter left a red on getting out of a snooker.
  • 16-15   Carter now misses another pot on the red but at least it is safe.
  • 16-15   BUT ALI CARTER HAS MISSED IT - WHAT DRAMA !! - Perry is going to go for a tough red with the rest now BUT HE MISSES TOO !!
  • 16-15   PERRY FAILS TO LEAVE THE RED SAFE - Carter can take it here.
  • 16-15   Perry's break ends on 42 - the cue ball is potted after he misses bringing out a red on the cushion. 36-42 (Perry) with one red left.
  • 16-15   AND JOE PERRY HAS POT A LONG PLANT - and he could be in here. Ali Carter never even saw that the plant was on.
  • 16-15   He is forced to play safe so the break ends on 31. He leads the frame 32-0
  • 16-15   Carter in here early after a great swerving long pot - At 30 he pots the blue and goes into the pack...but is he on anything? He is looking at a plant into the middle pocket AND HE GETS IT - but he is not on a colour now.
  • 16-15   Perry hangs around for awhile trying to get the snookers he needs but Carter pots the final red and is now just ONE FRAME AWAY FROM THE FINAL.
  • 15-15   A break of 23 means Perry requires snookers - Perry is snookered himself and 67-0 down.
  • 15-15   And that allows Carter back in...he has a tough red with the rest for frame ball....BUT HE GETS IT !!
  • 15-15   A 44 for Carter - he left himself a tough red that he couldn't quite cut in which ends the break - he has left a half chance but Perry JUST misses the pot.
  • 15-15   Joe Perry is very annoyed - he was looking to pot a red and a mobile went off in the crowd as he took it. He missed the pot and Carter is now in.
  • 15-15   So this is all going at a fair pace this evening. Both players are playing very well and building good breaks. Some (including myself) expected a slog but this has been a pleasant surprise.
  • 15-15   Great break from Carter- he set it up with a risky black into the pack and then builds all the way into the 70s to take the frame. 77 is the break.
  • 14-15   And now it is Carter's chance to try and build a break early in this frame. Back and forth we continue to go.
  • 14-15   Very well crafted break from Perry - his sixth century of the tournament - an 111 before he pots the cue ball.
  • 14-14   Some good long potting from Perry helps him get in for the first break of the frame.
  • 14-14   And we are back underway here in Sheffield.
  • 14-14   Carter gets back in for the points he needs - all square again at the mid-session interval. We are down to a best-of-five contest.
  • 13-14   Perry with a long pot but then he misses an easy black straight away - we are in a safety exchange now.
  • 13-14   Carter loses position while on 46 and is forced to play safe.
  • 13-14   Good long pot from Carter leaves him on the black. Early chance for him to level things up again.
  • 13-14   AND PERRY HAS NICKED THE FRAME - A break of 54 sees him steal it and that could really affect Carter you feel.
  • 13-13   Perry has fluked a red that he hit while trying to get the cue ball back to baulk and this could see him nick the frame.
  • 13-13   Carter misses a brown into the middle pocket with his break on 50 but it rolls onto the top of the bottom pocket to keep him safe.
  • 13-13   Perry with a crazy shot - he goes into the heart of the pack while potting a red - he didn't leave himself on a colour and didn't even pot the red. Carter now has a chance.
  • 13-13   Carter gets back in to get the points he needs - another break this time of 44 - and we are now in a best of seven situation.
  • 12-13   Carter extends his lead to 70-0 - Perry needs three snookers.
  • 12-13   Carter with a break of 63 - but he is very angry with himself after missing a black that was frame ball.
  • 12-13   Carter building in this second frame of the evening - he is up to 35...
  • 12-13   Carter misses a risky plant and leaves a pot on that allows Perry to get back in and get the points he needed. A mini-break of 38 added to his 57 earlier is more than enough for the frame.
  • 12-12   Perry's break ends on 57 - he was unlucky as he left nothing easy on after going into the reds and had to try a tough pot. He ended up leaving a long red on but Carter can't pot it.
  • 12-12   Perry is in for the first little chance of the evening.
  • 12-12   And Joe Perry has got us underway.
  •   Players are just been introduced at the moment - we will be underway any minute now.
  •   Welcome to the final session of this semi-final between Ali Carter and Joe Perry. Locked on 12-12 it is first to 17 and this one could very well go to the wire.
  • 12-12   Well well, what a match we have on our hands here. Ali Carter pulls it back to 12-12! The match will play to finish from 19:00(BST) and you can follow all the action RIGHT HERE! Thanks for joining me.
  • 11-12   Carter 28-0 ahead and at the table, but a miss lets in Perry...once again, however, he can't take his opportunity.
  • 11-12   Carter is back within a frame! That a was gritty comeback.
  • 10-12   Poor shot from Perry, and Carter has chance here. Unlucky! He pots pink but his attempt to dislodge the red on the cushion doesn't quite come off. Shot-to-nothing double misses.
  • 10-12   Ooooohhhh, Perry misses a red to the top corner. Carter jumps in to play a nice snooker. Good escape from Perry.
  • 10-12   Carter can't get away and Perry now has a chance, but he makes a positional mistake and is forced to play safe. 22-10 Perry leads.
  • 10-12   Edgy start from both players to the 23rd frame. Carter misses a red and leaves the pack scattered, but Perry misses his chance. Carter returns and gets the scoring underway.
  • 10-12   A possible first century for Joe Perry , but he misses the green and settles for a frame-winning 82 contribution. He restores his two-frame advantage and slinks off to the gents.
  • 10-11   Perry hasn't put together any massive breaks this morning, but he is excellent at building a decent lead, then playing safe and finishing the frame off on his return to the table. He leads 12-0 in the 22nd with a bit of a safety battle developing. Reds bunched at the bottom end of the table, obviously, with the white in baulk.
  • 10-11   Carter takes his first frame of the day with a break of 68. He has finally had some decent time at the table and that should settle his nerves. If he can take two of the remaining three and finish the morning at 12-12 that would be huge for him considering the dismal start he has made.
  • 9-11   Amazing shot by Joe Perry! He is snookered behind the green off the top cushion and gets out of it by rattling the white off the jaws of the top-left pocket and sending it down the table into the reds! But he has opened the pack right up and Carter ought to win the frame from here.
  • 9-11   OK, we're back after the break and Joe Perry gets us under way for frame number 21.
  • 9-11   Perry soon gets another chance and this time makes no mistake. Clearing up as far as the yellow to take a clean sweep of the morning session's first four frames. Time for the mid-session interval and my goodness Ali Carter needs it.
  • 9-10   But Carter's rustiness shows through and his break stalls at 15. Perry is back at the table but now he makes basic error, clonking the white into the brown after potting a green, and he lays up for a safety shot. 48-15 to Perry.
  • 9-10   Well, maybe there IS a chink of light for Carter. Perry, who looks very much like Manchester City's Martin Petrov when he plays a bad shot, misses his red by a long way and leaves Carter with the perfect opportunity to build his first break of the session.
  • 9-10   Once again it is Joe Perry making all the running. He takes a 31-0 lead before leaving the white in baulk. Carter pots a tough long red, but topspin takes the white in after it! Not your day, son.
  • 9-10   An assured 58 secures a third consecutive frame for Joe Perry, who hits the front again. Carter is struggling badly and takes a toilet break just one frame from the mid-session interval. He's getting a pasting at the moment.
  • 9-9   Perry compiles a break of just 10, but puts the white right on the top cushion and Carter might struggle to make this safe... Indeed he does, and Perry knocks in a long red - a real chance of winning the frame from here.
  • 9-9   Carter pots a red at last. But that is all it is, and Perry is soon back at the table with a chance of building a handy break.
  • 9-9   Excellent frame from Joe Perry. He snookers Carter early, forcing him to leave an open red. And Perry duly clears up. Carter has yet to pot a ball this morning.
  • 9-8   Carter tries to snooker his man behind the green but leaves enough daylight for Perry to knock in a red and finish off a pretty emphatic first frame of the session. Back within a frame of the lead now.
  • 9-7   Joe Perry has done all the potting in this frame. His 57-8 lead all of his own making. Carter trails by 49 with 43 on the table. You don't have to be Stephen Hawking to work out that he needs a snooker.
  • 9-7   Don't see that every day... Perry pots the white twice in three visits to the table, the second after sinking a tough red with the rest. Carter misses the subsequent long red and Perry is off the hook again. He leads 30-8.
  • 9-7   PERRY breaks well and immediately CARTER slips up, missing a long red and presenting his opponent with an easy chance to build a break.
  • 10:00   Good morning and welcome back to the Crucible! Ronnie O'Sullivan has already booked his place in the final and awaits the winner of this one. It's Ali Carter versus Joe Perry!
  • 9-7   STUNNING clearance of 128 from Carter to end the session - and is really was his session too - he leads 9-7 and the two players will resume Saturday morning - join us then.
  • 8-7   Much, MUCH better stuff from Perry - a superb break of 127 to the pink. He potted every ball on the table but the final black - and he looks likes a man who believes he can win this match again
  • 8-6   That frame seems to have done Perry the world of good - he is building another break here and looking much better.
  • 8-6   PERRY GETS THE FRAME - he clears to the black and won the frame with a superb pot on the pink that saw him go all around the table to find position on the black - super shot and that will do him the world of good.
  • 8-5   Perry gets back in for another chance ine the colours - but with the green in the middle of the table he misses the pot when trying to find position on the brown. So Carter leads 59-30 and we are on a safety exchange on the green.
  • 8-5   Carter can't get out of the snooker and leaves a free ball on but Perry again can't build anything of note. Carter now leads 59-34 and has snookered Perry on the final red.
  • 8-5   Perry pots a long red but gets a massive kick and can't find position on a colour still he manages to snooker Carter.
  • 8-5   Carter quickly moves to 51 but then plays a poor shot on a red with the rest. The red goes down but he loses good position. He tries to pot a tough black but misses. Still he at least leaves the cue ball relatively safe and he leads 51-23 with three reds left.
  • 8-5   Perry's confidence looks shot - a break ends on 23 as he misses a red with the rest but it was the previous shot when he lost prime position that really cost him.
  • 8-5   And Carter gets the extra red he needed - a break of 64 earlier in the frame proved enough for him and he has now won SIX in row - five of those coming today.
  • 7-5   Carter has built up another big lead here - 65-1 with only three reds left - Perry needs two snookers but he is going to try and stick around.
  • 7-5   And we are back underway...
  • 7-5   Carter looking in really good shape now - a great break of 106 to the green - the highest of the match so far. He has taken all four frames this afternoon as the two players go off for their mid-session cup-of-tea.
  • 6-5   It is Carter building early in this frame again...
  • 6-5   Three in a row in this session for Carter - a break of 55 to the pink sees him take the frame - and Perry is squirming a bit in his chair - he doesn't look comfortable out there.
  • 5-5   But Perry's mind doesn't seem to be in it at the moment - he misses a red early in the break and Carter has another chance now to wrap up the frame.
  • 5-5   The break ends with a red missed by a long way on 38 - he leads 43-6 but Perry has a chance to get right back into this frame.
  • 5-5   Carter gets the red and finds position on the black - he is now building a break.
  • 5-5   Cagey start to this frame - Perry has just fluked a red to go 6-5 but he then has to play safe and decides to fire the yellow into the pack of reds while leaving the cue ball in baulk but he has left a red on…
  • 5-5   ...Carter fires home a long pink and black to clinch it...
  • 4-5   ...and after a long battle of safety and missed pots on the pink...
  • 4-5   ....and Carter steps up...he just needs pink and black to pinch the frame...but he misses the final pink!
  • 4-5   Perry goes a long way to re-establishing his two-frame lead...but then misses a black off the spot to end his break of 57...
  • 4-5   ...Perry has a fine chance to nick the frame when he pots the final red, followed by the brown...but he can't get a good position on the yellow...and Carter steps up to finish the job...
  • 3-5   ...Perry hits back with 29 before missing one of three difficult final reds...
  • 3-5   Carter makes 41 before running out of position and being forced into safety...
  • 3-5   The introductions have been made, and the session is underway...
  •   Hello; welcome to our coverage of the semi-final from the bottom half of the draw...Carter against Perry...
  • 3-5   But no! CARTER gets back in and steals the frame to make it 5-3. It's a score-line that flatters him, but he deserves praise for fighting spirit. That's it for the first session! Thanks for joining me. Back for more tomorrow!
  • 2-5   PERRY's in here. He SHOULD make it 6-2.
  • 2-5   PERRY goes 5-2 ahead. CARTER looks a little shellshocked to be honest. There's a long way to go, but he needs to compose himself here.
  • 2-4   A break of 84 seals the frame, and PERRY has a two-frame lead once more.
  • 2-3   76 break so far for PERRY. Make that 77. Excellent stuff.
  • 2-3   YESSSSSSS!!!! PERRY rocks one home. Points, points, points!
  • 2-3   We're in a world of safety shots here. Enthralling if you like your snooker tactical and without balls flying into pockets...otherwise fairly dull.
  • 2-3   CARTER sinks a red, follows it with a black. But he misses the next red. How about that for ball-by-ball commentary.
  • 2-3   CARTER pulls it back to 3-2, without really playing that well it has to be said.
  • 1-3   PERRY gets back in for 22. CARTER is 32 ahead, with 35 remaining. It's early doors, but in the context of the match this is a big frame.
  • 1-3   CARTER makes a half-century and he looks set to pull another one back. THIS IS MORE LIKE IT!
  • 1-3   And we're back after the break. CARTER starts poorly, with a loose safety that kisses the blue on the way back to baulk. He escapes.
  • 1-3   And CARTER pulls one back before the mid-session interval. He really needed that frame. 3-1. Back shortly.
  • 0-3   CARTER has a decent chance to get himself on the board here. He's 25-6 ahead and the balls are nicely positioned for a break.
  • 0-3   PERRY with a fluke to get the scoring going in frame four. It's certainly shaping up to be his night.
  • 0-3   A break of 68 gives PERRY a 3-0 lead. What a start!
  • 0-2   PERRY in amongst it in frame three. He takes black and screws wickedly into the pack. Nice work.
  • 0-2   CARTER has a crack at a long red and misses by a long way. Luckily it was a shot to nothing.
  • 0-2   PERRY wraps up a scrappy second frame. CARTER hasn't turned up to the party yet.
  • 0-1   PERRY leads 48-29, with one red remaining. The pair are exchanging safeties.
  • 0-1   PERRY falls short of a second succesive half-century and CARTER has a chance.
  • 0-1   Tense start to the second frame, PERRY in the balls now though, with the reds splayed all over the baize.
  • 0-1   CARTER with a lovely "Barney Rubble" into the middle pocket. He follows it with a snooker in baulk. PERRY escapes.
  • 0-1   PERRY wraps up the opening frame with a break of 62.
  • 0-0   CARTER misses! Jittery stuff.
  • 0-0   PERRY makes 54, but misses a red to the middle to allow CARTER back in...BUT he wastes the opportunity and leaves a red open.
  • 0-0   PERRY moves to 33, he seems relaxed and focused. This will do the nerves do end of good.
  • 0-0   CARTER with the first pot, but he misses black and PERRY leaps straight to the table. Good red, powerful black to split the pack. Early chance.
  • 0-0   Good evening and welcome to LIVE! coverage of the World Championships semi-final between Ali Carter and Joe Perry in Sheffield.
