- 12-4 A gritty knock from Murphy keeps him in the match...he takes a tight final frame of the session on the blue to cling on by his fingernails...
- 12-3 SUPERB! Carter fires home a long blue just left open by Carter, before cutting a fine pink into the corner with the rest! Another frame...he's just one from the match now!
- 11-3 Murphy has done well to battle his way in front late on here...he is 52-58 down, but a poor positional shot from brown to final blue means he has to play safe...
- 11-3 No surprise...Murphy's long miss on a red hands Carter a chance...straight in, and the break is 49...before he misses a black cut back into the corner...
- 11-3 ...the breat ends at 55, but it is more than enough to clinch the frame...this is incredible stuff from Carter...
- 10-3 ...the Carter break is up to 48...two tricky reds remain...but the lead is growing...
- 10-3 The 14th frame has started slowly...Carter holds a 20-13 lead...and he has just knocked in a good red into the corner after Murphy failed to get safe, nestled into the pack...
- 10-3 Carter makes 16 before failing completely to split the pack of reds off the black...he has to play safe...
- 10-3 Another fine knock from Carter...he has been superb this morning, pouncing on everything Murphy has left him...a fine break of 93 hands him the frame...still three left in this session...
- 9-3 Carter seals the final frame before the mid-session interval...although it's a tight one, only won on the final pink when Murphy was desperately unlucky to go in-off.
- 8-3 Murphy misses the pink after nailing his first red...very unlike the 2005 champion and world number one...Carter comes to the table with the reds nicely split...
- 8-3 Murphy needs three chances, but he finally closes out the 11th frame to cut the score to 8-3, but he still has plenty work to do...
