  • 9-13   Perry secures his place in the quarter-finals of the World Championship here in Sheffield. Bingham threw away his chance of the frame while on 63, missing a simple red by concentrating on the side to get in position on the colour. After that a cool 55 clearance edges Perry ahead 67-63 to set him up against Maguire in the last eight.
  • 9-12   Perry moves within a frame of victory and a place alongside Maguire. His 69 run does the job as he takes it 70-11.
  • 9-11   A bitty contest in frame 20, Perry emerging with the win by a score of 69-0 after Bingham fouled from a difficult position. Time for the interval - a crucial 21st frame awaits upon their return to the floor.
  • 9-10   Wow! Hot stuff from Stu Bingham! He goes all the way to the black for a 137, cracking break from the Basildon potter. This match is going to the wire.
  • 8-10   Perry responds with a 67 run to extend his lead to two again in this intriguing match. The first to 13 wins.
  • 8-9   Perry reaches 51 in the first frame of the evening, but there are enough points on the table after he misses a black into the bottom-right corner... Bingham patiently builds his break to level with him early in the colours then completes his 65 clearance to reduce the gap to one.
  • 7-9   Scot Stephen Maguire awaits the victor in the quarter-finals after he finished the job against Australian Neil Robertson earlier on.
  •   The players return to the table for the third and final session in Sheffield. The match will be played to a conclusion tonight.
  • 7-9   Perry leads 9-7 going into tonight's final session after a 82 break to conclude the session.
  • 7-8   Perry back ahead after a 78 run in frame 15.
  • 7-7   A run of 34 from Swail and the players are locked together once more.
  • 7-6   Perry opens up a 37 point lead in the 14th but Bingham responds with 23 before missing a simple red.
  • 7-6   The Essex cueman seals the frame with a run of 34.
  • 6-6   Bingham opens frame 13 with nine reds and nine blacks but the 147 is foiled as he attempts to go around the table to get back on the black but hits the brown.
  • 6-6   Bingham back on level terms at the mid-session interval after sealing the frame with a 49 break.
  • 5-6   Four reds and four blacks to open frame 12 for Bingham before the break comes to an end.
  • 5-6   Bingham does brings the scores level but Perry clears to take the frame 68-45 and now leads for the first time in the match.
  • 5-5   Basildon's Bingham has hardly had a look in this morning and trails 45-0 in frame 11.
  • 5-5   Bingham responded with 17 but then Perry sealed the frame with 18 more and is back on level terms.
  • 5-4   A 55 break from Perry to open frame ten but then he lets his opponent in.
  • 5-4   Bingham comes to the table with two reds left and misses a black in the corner pocket so concedes the ninth frame.
  • 5-3   Perry has begun the second session nicely, he led 40-6 and then continued to build his advantage going 55-10 and then 66-10 ahead.
  • 5-3   Perry cuts his lead to only two frames though in the final frame of the session. Bingham pots a solitary red, answered emphatically by Perry's 65.
  • 5-2   Bingham has fallen at the quarter-final stage in tournaments on four occasions: 1999 Welsh Open, 2005 Grand Prix, 2005 UK Championship and 2007 Northern Ireland Trophy. He will add the 2008 World Championship to that list if he continues his lead to reach 13 frames (and then loses at the next stage!)
  • 5-2   Perry opens with a 52 but it is not enough - after only managing 13 on his first visit, Bingham's 49 clearance pips his opponent for the frame.
  • 4-2   Bingham gets to 40-odd and clears up with his second run after Perry draws near to his total. Two-frame lead for the Basildon cueman.
  • 3-2   Bingham gets his nose in front again with the most assured spell yet in this encounter - this time falling just short of a century as he gets to 98!!
  • 2-2   Perry makes it all-square again despite falling just short of a half-centry again with 48. He also has a 43 to his name so far, while Bingham's best runs are 45 and 43.
  • 2-1   Bingham takes the lead in frame three with two solid runs which are just enough to keep Perry behind him.
  • 1-1   Bingham again leads the way with a 35 break, but when he allows Perry to the table is forced to watch as Joe passes him and disappears up to the black ball, which jumps out of the pocket - but no worries, he slings down his cue on to the table in a challenge before going off somewhere, probably to visit the little boys' room. Stirring stuff.
  • 1-0   Bingham moves 50 ahead but the gap is clawed back bit by bit as Perry employs his defensive capabilities. By the pink he needs both final balls to win the frame. Although Bingham misses the penultimate ball and leaves it over the pocket, he gets away with a lucky snooker thanks to the black and eventually snares the pink to make sure of the lead.
