- 10-9 But Cope can't take it...Ebdon wins it on the pink to go through!
- 9-9 ...there's the twist! A poor shot on the final colour to yellow leaves Cope with another chance!
- 9-9 Ebdon is holding his nerve in the decider...he has come from 41-0 down and is now in front going into the colours...
- 9-9 Ebdon attempts a cut into the corner, but gets it a bit fat, and Cope has another decent chance to finish it off...
- 9-9 Cope fails on 28 after missing a red over the middle...fortunately he has covered it with the blue as Ebdon comes to the table 32-1 down...
- 9-9 We're going the distance! Cope fires in a quite super 78 under pressure to take it into a decider...he fails on the black off the final red, falling just short of matching Ryan Day as the only player to score three centuries on his Crucible debut.
- 9-8 A superb long doubled final red hands Ebdon a golden chance to win the 17th frame and move to within one of the match...which he does with a nice effort on the colours...
- 8-8 Great response from Cope, who gets back on level terms with a superb century, 101...this is going to the final frame, I can tell you that...
- 8-7 Ebdon is finishing the match much the stronger player...he makes a hard-working 109 to move in front...he needs just two of the final four frames...
- 7-7 Ebdon clinches a tense first frame back after the interval, closing out with a good 38 after a safety battle over a bunch of reds clustered on the bottom cushion...7-7 now...
- 7-6 Ebdon and Cope are back after their break...this one looks as though it is going to the wire...
- 7-6 ...Ebdon pots the yellow over the jaw to seal the frame...that was a real chance for Cope to hurt Ebdon...but now they go into the mid-session interval at 7-6.
- 7-5 ...Cope comes back from 59 points behind...he needs a snooker...gets it on the penultimate red...before a stunning red along the entire length of the cushion takes him to the colours...but he misses the yellow with the rest!
- 7-5 Ebdon makes 62 before running out of available reds...he attempts to double the final free red...but instead cannons the blue in...still 67 remaining on the table, and Cope is 57 behind...
- 7-5 A superb century break from Cope keeps his nose in front...14 reds, five blacks, four pinks, four blues and the colours in a fine 126 clearance...
- 6-5 Ebdon responds with a fine break of 73 up to the final pink to cut the lead back to just one frame...the former champ is renowned for his determination...he isn't going to give Cope anything...
- 6-4 A break of 40 helps Cope to extend his lead in the opening frame of the second session...that will feel good, having a two-frame lead over the 2002 champion...
- 5-4 The match is underway... Big session for both these men...

- 5-4 Ebdon finishes in style with a break of 101 to ensure he will begin the second session of this match trailking by just a single frame...good fightback from the gritty former champ.
- 5-3 Ebdon battles back with his biggest contribution so far, a break of 87...he looked to be a lot quicker round the table there, a lot more fluent.
- 5-2 Cope makes a break of 75 to move 5-2 in front....absolutely no sign of nerves from the Crucible debutant, who is looking very good. His break-building has been very impressive, although his shot-selection has sometimes been a bit rash.
- 4-2 Edbon makes 58 to decide the sixth frame; it is the former champion's highest break of the match, and he looked a lot more settled throughout.
- 4-1 Cope makes 64 before polishing off the frame following a poor Ebdon safety...4-1 is a very handy lead for the youngster.
- 3-1 Ebdon and Cope are back out after their break...Peter pours himself a glass of water as Jamie breaks off...
- 3-1 Ebdon gets his first frame off the match on the board with a break of 44 to go into the interval 3-1 down; the former champ hasn't been cuing well so far this afternoon.
- 3-0 Cope makes a terrific, hard-working 86 break to move into a 3-0 lead; fine start from the youngster from Stoke.
- 2-0 ...Ebdon draws out the frame as he searches for a snooker on the pink...he gets the snooker behind the black...but the pink rolls into the middle pocket to hand Cope the frame! So unlucky for Ebdon.
- 1-0 Cope has handed Ebdon three or four chances to put this frame beyond him, but he is still in it...and is now on the colours after a long, tense slog from both players...
- 1-0 This looks like it might be a long frame...already four reds have been made safe, on the cushion...this will suit Ebdon more than Cope.
- 1-0 Cope builds a 62-0 lead through two breaks in the opening frame before allowing Ebdon in...the former champ makes 22 before failing on the second-last red, allowing Cope back in to take it.
- 0-0 Here we go! Cope breaks off...
