Thanks for joining me this afternoon; make sure you stick around for all the latest news from the snooker world...
8-10   WALDEN WINS IT! A clearance to the pink takes him over the line and earns the somewhat muted applause of the crowd! O'Sullivan shakes his hand...great performance from Walden to win his first ranking title...
8-9   O'Sullivan pulls a frame back to keep in it...this has got deciding frame written all over it...Ronnie has had some late comebacks before in this tournament...he's going to need another one...
7-9   O'Sullivan makes 1 before leaving the black over the pocket...reds are in a decent position as Walden comes to the table...
7-9   Walden is just a frame away from a famous win...great half-century at the start of the frame helps Ricky to within touching distance of the finishing line...
7-8   Another frame to Walden, who edges ahead at the end of the match; Ronnie has got work to do, because Walden has managed to stiffle him over the last couple of frames...
7-7   O'Sullivan levels with 82, missing the pink as he attempted to screw up the table to the yellow. Could be going to the wire, this one.
6-7   Walden wins the scrappy frame to go in front...Ronnie had a chance at the death when he fired down the final long red...but he then jawed the black in trying to get position on the yellow.
6-6   Scrappy frame, this one; both players have had several chances, but been unable to fully capitalise so far...
6-6   Walden makes Ronnie pay when the world number one misses the pack when attempting to split them...Ricky makes a frame-clinching 48 up to the final red to level at 6-6.
6-5   Walden makes 30 before missing; decent effort, but Ronnie steps up and rolls in a tough red to the middle to begin the comeback...
6-5   Wonderful 108 takes Ronnie back in front...high quality stuff after the interval, from both players.
5-5   Walden looks good when he gets in early in the 11th frame...but a horrendous mis-cue with the rest ends his contribution and allows O'Sullivan a chance...
5-5   Walden superbly levels the match with a frame-winning break of 95 to make O'Sullivan pay fully for his missed long red...cracking match this, and Walden still has a good chance of winning his first ranking tournament.
5-4   Walden makes just nine after an aggressive split into the pack...O'Sullivan attempts a long pot, but misses and leaves Ricky a second chance...
5-4   OFF WE GO!
Hi there, welcome back to our coverage of this tightly contested final in Shanghai...the players are about to come out into the arena for the second session...
It has been a fascinating encounter so far, with each man having a purple patch but O'Sullivan just edging it. The action restarts at 12:45 UK time as they players resume and they will continue to a finish - first to 10 frames will become Shanghai Masters champion. Join us then!
5-4   But there's no stopping O'Sullivan as he reels off an unanswered 78 to take the final frame of the session and move into a 5-4 lead.
4-4   Well done Ricky Walden. He ties the match up at four frames apiece, compiling a gritty 56 break to overhaul his rival 77-38.
4-3   Devastating stuff from O'Sullivan. He can turn a match so quickly, and in the blink of an eye he had gone from 3-1 down to 4-3 up. This time a quickfire 87 break is enough to give him the lead.
3-3   And just like that, Ronnie O'Sullivan ties it up at three frames all. Breaks of 64 and 31 see him make it three each as Walden does not even get on the scoreboard.
2-3   The Rocket is back in the match. He wins frame five with a break of 58 for an eventual score of 86-22.
1-3   They are back under way after the break and it is O'Sullivan who draws first blood. Some much-needed time at the table for the world champion, but he can only manage a break of 28 and Walden gets straight to work.
1-3   This is too easy! They go into the mid-session interval with Ricky Walden ahead by three frames to one. He narrowly misses out on his first century break of the match, having to settle for a 94. 99-4 the eventual frame score.
1-2   Great play by Ricky Walden! After some early skirmishes, he reels off a frame-winning 74 break to go 2-1 ahead. 113-20 the frame score. And if Walden is nervous, he certainly isn't showing it.
1-1   One frame all! Walden digs deep to win the safety battle and take the second frame by a slim margin, 61-47. That's huge for the 25-year-old.
1-0   An opportunity missed by Ricky Walden? He moves to 47-39 in front but runs out of potting opportunities and a safety battle ensues. Already you feel this is a massive frame for the qualifier.
1-0   O'Sullivan looks set to run away with the second frame, but his break stalls on 32, and Walden gratefully accepts the opportunity to notch up his first points of the contest.
1-0   Welcome to the final, young man. Ronnie O'Sullivan is into his stride straight away, compiling a match-winning break and taking the opening frame 81-0. So clinical, so good.
0-0   Best of 19 frames - this match is under way!
