 Comments
  • 00:30   GARCIA (Even) misses his par chance, and another Major title has slipped through his fingers.
  • 00:20   GARCIA (-1) hits a neat bunker shot, but leaves a 10-footer for par. CURTIS (-2) on 17, with a testing one for par...NOPE!! He will now surely need a birdie at the last - and there's only been one of those all day at 18. Back to HARRINGTON...this putt could win him the title...IT'S THERE!!!
  • 00:15   HARRINGTON (-2) finds a fairway bunker at 18. GARCIA (-1) avoids the sand, but will face a testing shot from the rough on a steep slope. EL NINO draws a five-wood, but it comes up just fractionally short and LANDS IN THE SAND!!! HARRINGTON duffs his bunker shot!!! This is unbelievable stuff. He's now playing his third...WHAT AN INCREDIBLE SHOT!!! He could still make par here, and that putt will likely be for the championship. GARCIA surely MUST GET DOWN IN TWO FROM THE BUNKER.
  • 00:05   HARRINGTON (-2) with a five-iron at the par-three, 216-yard 17th...what a superb shot!! GARCIA (-2) next...HE BETTERS IT!!!! This is quite unbelievable stuff from the these two players. Both have a chance at birdie. CURTIS (-2) finds his ball way out right at 16...WHAT A FINE SHOT!!! The American is still in it. HARRINGTON (-3)...SINKS HIS PUTT!!!! GARCIA needs to match him...NO!!! He misses wide to the left and falls a shot behind.
  • 00:00   CURTIS (-2) hits a HORRIBLE TEE SHOT AT 16, and he's seriously in trouble. HARRINGTON (-2) saves par with a wonderful curling putt under pressure. GARCIA (-2) follows him in, and we now have three played tied for the lead.
  • 23:45   DISASTER FOR GARCIA!!!! His approach at 16 is IN THE WATER!!!! HARRINGTON doesn't do much better, finding the bunker to the front left. Meanwhile CURTIS (-2) is within 10 feet at 14 with a great chance to to take the lead - his birdie putt misses. GARCIA's chip from the drop zone is exquisite and he could yet escape with bogey. HARRINGTON's sand shot is bold, and goes passed the flag to leave a tough putt back.
  • 23:30   HARRINGTON (-2) lets one slide at the 14th and GARCIA (-3) is once again out alone in the lead. GARCIA's approach at 15 HITS THE FLAG!!! What an unbelievable shot!!! It was very close to flying straight in the cup, but remains within birdie reach. HARRINGTON now has quite an act to follow...He plays a fine shot, and leaves a 10-footer for birdie. THIS IS HUGE PUTT...IT'S WIDE!!! GARCIA now has the chance to extend his lead...NO!!! MEANWHILE, CURTIS GETS TO THREE UNDER WITH A BIRDIE!!! It's now GARCIA and CURTIS leading by one from HARRINGTON.
  • 23:15   GARCIA (-3) hits his drive wide right at 14, but hacks out of the rough with some style to find the green. HARRINGTON (-3) is also wayward, and for a moment it looks as though his escape is going to hit the pin - but it races passed and he'll have a tricky up-and-down for par. The Irishman tries a little lobbed chip onto the green, and gets some good spin to hold his ball. CURTIS (-2) at 13 for birdie, but he leaves it short and settles for par...we've been writing him off, but the 2003 Open champion is not out of this yet.
  • 23:00   HARRINGTON (-3) birdies the 13th and IS TIED FOR THE LEAD WITH GARCIA!!! STENSON is struggling at 12, following a poor second shot and looks likely to drop at least one - he escapes with bogey. CURTIS (-2) birdies 12 and closes the gap to one shot between himself and the leaders.
  • 22:45   POULTER bogeys 16, 17 and 18 for a disapointing end to his tournament. The Englishman ends the week on 11 over par and will need a pick from Nick Faldo to make the Ryder Cup team on current points standings. GARCIA (-3) makes possibly his first mistake of the day, fluffing a regulation chip at 12. He's left a long putt for par...AND IT COMES VERY VERY CLOSE. Great recovery from EL NINO, but he drops a shot and HARRINGTON is now just ONE SHOT BEHIND!!!
  • 22:15   GARCIA (-3) holds his nerve to sink a par putt at 11, and HARRINGTON (-1) follows his lead. CURTIS (-2) finds a fairway bunker with his drive at the same hole. The American is struggling a little here, perhaps the occasion is getting to him a little. Thus far, it doesn't appear to be affected either HARRINGTON of GARCIA who seem set for a battle royale down the stretch. That being said, it would be a unwise to rule out STENSON (-1) who's moving along nicely.
  • 22:00   HARRINGTON (-1) sinks a fine putt at the 10th and gets within two shots of OUR NEW LEADER SERGIO GARCIA (-3). CURTIS (-2) has dropped two shots in two holes at eight and nine and conceded his lead as a result. Who'd bet against a showdown between HARRINTON and GARCIA at this stage? Email your predictions to wtidey@eurosport.com and let's start the debate.
  • 21:45   GARCIA (-3) moves onto the par-three ninth. It's 223 yards and he takes a five-wood - but he's through the green to the left. Great recovery from the Spaniard, however, and he takes par to stay in the hunt.
  • 21:30   GARCIA (-3) clenches his fist with delight after sinking a tricky par putt at the eighth to remain at three under. El Nino is firing on all cyclinders today. Brandt SNEDEKER (+7) chips in at the 15th for a nice birdie. Meanwhile...HOLE IN ONE!!!!!! JACOBSON BAGS AN ACE AT 13!!!!
  • 21:15   CURTIS (-4) birdies the sixth to get to four under. GARCIA (-3) is one shot back thanks to his birdies at one and six, and that wonderful eagle at the second - which could easily have been an albatross with had his ball rolled a couple of feet forward. STENSON is at two under, with HARRINGTON lurking ominously at even par.
  • 20:45   VILLEGAS (+1) is making a run, with his third birdie at the eighth. CURTIS (-3) plays a lovely chip from just off the green at the fifth and should wrap it up for par from there. MICKELSON (+1) is in trouble at the eighth, and he leaves a wedge WAY SHORT to leave a monster putt for par...he pushes it passed the hole and walks away with bogey to move to two over.
  • 20:30   CURTIS (-3) misses a short birdie attempt at four, but safely gets down for a par four. ROSE (+6) has dropped two early shots and his chances are fading fast now. WEATHER UPDATE: It's raining. GARCIA (-2) has a birdie chance at five, but it leaves it short and collects a par. HARRINGTON (+1) drops a shot at the same hole.
  • 20:15   MICKELSON (+1) is in trouble at six, but - rather predictably - he pulls off an amazing bunker shot to leave a tiddler for par. HARRINGTON (Even) for birdie at the fourth, but it's just wide left. GARCIA next, with an eight-footer for birdie - not this time.
  • 20:00   GARCIA (-2) IS OFF TO A FLYER!!! EL NINO HAS EAGLE THE SECOND TO MOVE WITHIN A SHOT OF CURTIS (-3).
  • 19:45   HOLMES (-1) decides to take a drop, and chips across to the fairway with his fourth shot. His fifth leaves a 20-footer for double-bogey...which he misses and it's a SEVEN. GARCIA (-1) and WI (-1) grab birdies at the first, HARRINGTON must make do with par. MICKELSON (+2) has started par-birdie-birdie and is looking in the mood today. CURTIS (-3) STARTS WITH A BIRDIE TO INCREASE HIS LEAD!! STENSON (Even) drops a shot.
  • 19:30   Time for the final group. CURTIS plays first and hits a fine drive down the right. STENSON next, and the Swede hits a HORROR SHOT miles wide to the left. The big-hitting HOLMES follows him and both will struggle to make par. MICKELSON (+3) gets a birdie at the par-five second. WI birdies the first to get to level par. Back to HOLMES...who tries to punch his ball out from under a tree, but fluffs it. Not a good start for the American.
  • 19:15   HARRINTON, WI and GARCIA arrive at the first. The Open champion plays first, and hits a three-wood slap bang down the middle of the fairway. El Nino follows him, and ABSOLUTELY CRUSHES one into position A. Wedge for HARRINTON, and he gets to 10 feet. WI's ball is just a foot head and he plays a corker to get really close. GARCIA...WHAT A BEAUTY!!! POULTER (+6) drops one at seven to slow his progress.
  • 19:00   POULTER (+5) is absolutely flying. He birdies the sixth to stand at three under for his final round. Camilo VILLEGAS, Andres ROMERO and Jeev Milkha SINGH set off on their final rounds - and all hit superb drives down the first.
  • 18:45   On the tee...PLEASE WELCOME...the 2005 US PGA CHAMPION...PHHHHHHIIIIILLLLLL MICKELSON!!! (cue generous whooping). LEFTY absolutely smashes his drive and disects the fairway. EASY!! What a confident start. Back to POULTER (+6), who sinks his birdie to continue a good start.
  • 18:30   Not a great start for US Open runner-up Rocco MEDIATE (+13) who double-bogeys 10 and 11. Elsewhere, POULTER (+7) hits an absolute humdinger into five and will have a chance to make his second birdie of the day. The Englishman can seriously enhance his Ryder Cup chances with a top-20 finish today.
  • 18:00   CASEY (+8) with his eagle putt at the second, but it slides by. The Englishman failed to make a single birdie in his third round. POULTER (+8) is also strong with his eagle attempt. BOTH BIRDIE TO GET TO SEVEN OVER. Ernie ELS (+6) strolls up to the first tee and draws driver...his ball rolls gently into the first cut of rough to the right.
  • 17:30   AND OFF WE GO!!! England's CASEY and POULTER get going with pars in the opening group. POULTER now at the second, and he plays a lovely approach to give himself a shot at eagle. GREAT SHOT FROM POULTER!!!
  • 17:00   The third round is now officially completed, and preparations are under way to get the players back out there. Groups will tee off at one and 10 in the final round. The leading two pairings will be as follows - CURTIS (-2), HOLMES (-1) and STENSON (-1) / HARRINGTON (Even), GARCIA (Even) and WI (Even).
  • 16:45   CURTIS (+2) leads with one to play, but the finds the fairway bunker on 18 and misses a chance for par after hacking out and sending an iron to within 15 feet. He drops a shot and finishes at two over. ROSE (+4) saves par after a loose approach and will go into the final round with his chances alive.
  • 16:30   GARCIA finishes with a bogey at 18 and stands at one over for the championship - currently in a tie for fifth place. ROSE (+4) is letting it slip here, with a double-bogey at 16 to move to four over. The Englishman has two to play, and steps up to the par-three 17th - where he hits an absolute beauty to give himself a chance of getting a shot back.
  • 16:15   BACK TO THE LIVE STUFF...Sergio GARCIA (Even) birdies 17 to move within three shots of leader Ben Curtis (-3) - who's through 14 holes of his third round. JB Holmes (-2) is one shot back after 13, with Sweden's Henrik STENSON and Charlie Wi at one under par. Justin ROSE has slipped to two over as a result of a triple-bogey seven at 11. The Englishman has three holes remaining, however, and if he can just hold firm at that total he'll be among the final groups going out this afternoon.
  • 16:00   Time to get you caught up with players who have completed their third rounds today...Padraig HARRINGTON birdied four consecutive holes on the back nine and shot a four-under-par round of 66 to stand at one over par going into the final round. Camilo VILLEGAS of Colombia is at three over after a fine 67. Graeme MCDOWELL shot 68 to stand at four over par. England's Ian POULTER and Paul CASEY are both at eight over after carding 73 and 72 respectively.
  • 15:45   Good afternoon golf fans!! And welcome to our LIVE!! coverage of the 90th US PGA Championship at Oakland Hills. If you're a little confused by the leaderboard - here's what's going on. The third round was interupted yesterday by the threat of electrical storms, and is hence being completed today. The final round will begin at 16:20 (BST), with players going out in groups of three instead of the traditional pairings - in an attempt to avoid going into Monday.
